CROWD:
Now we know this is officially Rise MIAMI meets Shine NEW YORK but let us tell you... Whatever the flyer says...hmm this was definitely ... Brooklyn's finest in the house! Now for those of you who have been before you know the score... The crowd are wild, fun and vibrant... there is always a theme; this year was yellow and white and people DO stick to it!! For the shine virgins be prepared for the following: gold accessories (hardly any silver), string vests, all sorts of coloured hair, somebody bumcee outside their dress, more breasts than you ever see in your life, some home made outfits (or as a patron said ... like she run in a mas camp and take the cloth and make the dress!!), and of course inhibition-less people on the ground, on the bar, on a pole etc. Did we see some of the TRIBE posse passed out too??? Lol.. If you are easily shocked Shine is not the party for you.... If you like to laugh at wassy behaviour and aren't concerned about how far up your face your eyebrows might reach then 2 words... "GET INVOLVED!"

VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
Can we just stop and breathe a HUGE sigh of relief at the change in venue! After being subjected to some crime outside the 2009 venue TJJ were especially pleased to see this year's venue had moved to a whole other area at America's Backyard in Fort Lauderdale. We thought the concept of the venue which appeared to be a converted swimming pool, with the pool as the bar was pretty awesome ! Don't worry it was a 'raised' bar/pool so no bending down for drinks (although that would have made some great shots!!!). It did however get way too crowded to the point where it was hard to really enjoy yourself towards the end whilst squeezing through the crowd! We felt maybe the venue hadn't heard of 'at capacity' lol... which was a real shame, especially if you reach late! Good news is you could park outside for the whole day for just $5 or $10 and rest assured parking attendants were there to patrol!

VIBES:
A man describe the music tonight (this morning!!! Doh... Uhm what day is it?  Lol) as PERFECT!! Perfect yes... Well if the music was perfectwhy even bother to explain why the vibe was bess!!!! :-) This morning's event treated us to everything from a home made rhythm section to a vibsing drummer (big up Kerry) to super hot DJs including Giselle D Wassi One, DJ Hazzard, D'Bandit, Natural Freaks and Back to Basics (to name a few) ... and potentially one of the most fun crowds ever!!! Words cannot explain how many times we saw people picked up... hanging from the stairs... On the bar.... On they head .. lol ... Trust me, if you are tired this morning ... Rise and Shine ... you will indeed with this bunch!!! For a party that starts at 5AM, it's amazing how much energy people have! The over filled crowd wouldn't have helped your vibe if you got late as we know some people who got there and got stuck to one spot but those who were determined to get on just climbed on the bar or an a table and made it work!

FOOD/DRINK:
Whatever was in those pitchers looked amazing and judging by the amount of jugs being passed over the bar, everyone wanted a piece of it! We don't think we ever see so many Benjamin's pass across a bar ever..... This crowd was drinking and the bar staff were on point. They could have done with a few more bartenders but those that were there worked their socks off to keep those drinks rolling. We weren't aware of anything running out and given the size of the crowd that was pretty fabulous :-) Also we got to say that these were potentially the most GENEROUS bartenders in history... Nothing was measured and be warned as it looked as if at least half a bottle of alcohol went into each cocktail jug! They just kept on pouring!! Food was available upstairs if you couldn't take the heat and needed a place to chill.

SERVICE
:
We guess it's a debate as to who controlled the numbers today ... Was it the venue or was it the promoters?? We guess there's a fine line between a venue being jammed and being over jammed. Unfortunately anytime after approx 11:30am meant it was over jammed and we felt maybe that could have been curbed back a little! Aside from that the service was spot on... Bar staff were awesome and definitely working for their, DJs nailed the music and no unnecessary queues to get inside.

COST/VALUE:
Tickets cost $25 which appeared pretty standard for the 2010 Miami Carnival fetes.... was it worth it? If you reached early and by that we mean 8 or 9am then yes for sure... lots of hours of glorious sunshine and flowing drinks with great music. If you chose to go home from the night before then you probably missed out and got there when it was too crowded so you might disagree with the price! Our advice to you is get there early and get your money's worth for sure!
