In 2008, the promoters of the legendary Diamond Vale Breakfast Party in Trinidad took Vale Vibe overseas to the Big Apple (see coverage), so we knew it was only a matter of time before Vale Vibe made its appearance at Miami Carnival. And with Super F.R.I.E.N.D.S sliding over to Friday night, Vale Vibe Miami found its home in the Miami-Broward ONE Carnival Saturday night lineup.
CROWD:
From the lobby, we caught a quick glimpse of Miami Heat NBA All Star Dwyane Wade being escorted up to The Sky Lobby & Sky Terrace. Upstairs we then saw Wade’s team mate (and a good friend of TJJ), Jamaal Magloire in the mix. Ballers and Celebs ... check! Vale Vibe was filled with a sexy, mature crowd. VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
Bank of America International Sky Tower is located in the heart of Downtown Miami. The Sky Lobby & Terrace is located on the 11th floor showcasing a panoramic view of Miami, lush landscaping and reflective pool. This Miami award winning landmark events venue definitely left a lasting impression with guests.
VIBES:
From the time we exited the elevator on the 11th floor, the music was blaring... but something didn’t sound right. It was loud and bouncing/echoing within the Sky Lobby (main dance area), which was somewhat unbearable, so I ended up liming most of the night on the Terrance. I hope they get this fixed for next year. For those who came out to party, they jammed the night away (in a packed lobby) to the vast selections of Soca played by the likes of House Arrest (Miami), Duchess Alicia (Trinidad) and Back to Basics (NY) to name a few. The Riddim Section added to the vibes, especially when the party was wrapping up.
FOOD/DRINK:
Free Pelau and Corn Soup (while it lasted) were served outside. Thank you! There were also a couple cash bars on the Sky Lobby, which also included Bottle Service. Yes Uncle Johnnie, ya calling me?
SERVICE:
From experience, when it comes to non-Caribbean staff dealing with a Caribbean crowd, only the best of them can cope/keep up. The Vale Vibe bar staff actually did a decent job, and kept a smile too.
