I Love Soca

Man Burnt ... Man Tired ... Man Wah Sleep ... But No! The Carnival Ref Says ... the Game Must Go On ... We Must Go OUT Again ... last year him knock out cold and say nah I cyah make it ... but this year he on our tails ... lets go!!! Alright Nah!!! It just so happens the name of the fete is I Love Soca so its a good thiing is a soca fete!

CROWD:
I am totally convinced that Caribbean people and people who are in love with Caribbean culture love to party! We love to fete! We just spent hours in the hot sun ... the terribly hot sun and yet we still have energy enough to come out to party after playing mas on the streets of Miami. There were some people who actually still had on their costumes but truth be told I think this was a fresh bunch of people who actually did not come out on the road at all! I maybe wrong ... who knows! I must make a special announcement to those absolutely fantastically funky multi-coloured dressed bar stewardesses who made the night more entertaining for some of us ... (blonde in the pink in the back ... she was hilarious!!!)

VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
We are live and direct and EXACTLY on South Beach, Florida ... Mango's ... one of the well lit clubs on the strip of SoBe. With a very long and spacious downstairs and an upstairs bit where the DJ is located like a king, Mango's also proposes two separate rooms where there were two brand new DJs all playing different types and styles of music! This venue as Daddy Juice said, "I did not know Mango's was so Big! Cha Man!!"

VIBES:
With the carnival season over it was time to wind down and just relax and maybe have a last drink and a last wine up .. nah ... it was all about getting spazzed out and wining on as much bamsee and poles you could find! With performances by Rupee, Skinny Fabulous, Shal Marshall and the unstoppable force of the 2010 Soca Year - Jason Williams & Bionic Blaze, Mango's was set a fire tonight with their performances. Whether we mashed up the place or not, then firing on all cylinders because our power levels are up however, not noticing if the police was in the session and whether or not the recession is still going on, we were definitely partying hard and drinking hard in Mango's tonight based on the flowing vibe from these performances.

FOOD/DRINK:
Unfortunately, Mango's kitchen closed at it's usual time, so eating before hitting this party is the way to go.  Drinks (at SoBe prices) flowed all night, and the VIP ballers were buying everything (Scotch, Vodka, Tequila etc.) by the bottle. We did not really participate in the alcohol tonight but from what we saw we think drinks were being bought without thought of price or quantity! Oh Well!! I guess some patrons just do not care!! :-)

SERVICE:
From what we saw there was a VIP area where you had your own personal bar-stewardess bringing you drinks and then if you were in regular "general" you just had the bar , well the various bars, and you get your nepalm water! I would say there were not long waits - the women behind the bar were quite speedy and energetic. The bouncers in the club were just ... well they were bouncers ... you know wha I mean (I will keep quiet on this one).

A good last lap jam session - not the best - just good to close of the Miami 2010 Carnival Season.  Five days of fun, sun and rum and all the alcohol you could drink and generous bamcee passing complete with drive by wines .... "I WAS IN MIAMI B*TCH!!!"

Scorn Juice
... worth the bitter after taste
