Digicel St. Kitts and Local Football Club join to help local community
Saturday, September 27; Basseterre, St. Kitts:  Digicel St. Kitts today, teamed up with Digicel's locally sponsored football club, Digicel Village Superstar, to paint a local community wall.   As part of Digicel's initiative to become more involved in the communities, staff members of the Digicel Office together with the Village Superstars Football Club, jointly cleaned the sidewalk of a local football playing field and painted the wall to uplift the community.

Digicel St. Kitts' Marketing Manager, Sharez Laws explains: "Digicel always tries to find creative ways to give back to the communities.  This is the first of what we call 'Community Involvement Week' where St. Kitts will see Digicel staff members getting involved in similar projects on an ongoing basis.  We chose a football field because we feel sports development is important in the Caribbean.  If the kids have an adequate place to practice, it may encourage them to continue playing.  These kids may just one day be on the National team, you never know."

Ms. Laws further stated that this particular project was selected due to the celebrations of the Digicel Caribbean Championships currently taking place on the island: "We could not think of a more opportune time to show how the local office and the local football club can jointly pull their resources together to do something meaningful in the community."

Digicel Caribbean Championships' Group D games in St, Kitts continues on Sunday September 28 with hosts St. Kitts playing Barbados.  Both teams will battle to gain entrance to round two of the tournament.
