Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. January 26, 2011 - Appearing in court this morning before Magistrate Nannette Forde John, promoters of the annual WASA Fete, were given the all clear to host the event at the WASA Sports Grounds in St. Joseph on Saturday, January 29.

WASA Sports and Cultural Committee and Icon Bliss- the promoters of the event, were represented by attorney Keith Scotland.

Also appearing in court was Justice Minister Herbert Volney who initiated the objection last week. His attorney told Magistrate Forde- John that following amicable dialogue with Utilities Minister, Emanuel George, his client had decided to withdraw the objection.

WASA Sports and Cultural Club and Icon Bliss are now moving full speed ahead with preparations for the annual fete, which takes place this Saturday, January 29 from 10pm.
“We are very happy about the decision and would like to thank the public for their support throughout the situation. We guarantee safety, enjoyment and we are working tirelessly to offer patrons an event that will conjure memories of past carnival,” said an Icon Bliss representative.

WASA Fete has been a staple on the Carnival schedule for many years. Promoters are assuring that safety will not be compromised and patrons will receive their money’s worth in entertainment. Among the cast of performers slated for the event is Machel Montano and his HD band. This year marks the soca artiste’s return to the fete, since he last performed at WASA in 2009.
