With the Bacchanal Jamaica’s Carnival Mas Camp Opening Night scheduled for this Friday 18th February 2011 the Bacchanal Jamaica DJs and costume sponsors will be treating the public to what was only a sneak peak for a select few at BJ’s Media Launch held last Thursday.

As MC Sara Lawrence unveiled this years’ theme “Once upon a Dynasty” she captivated the audience throughout the night whilst some of the main sponsors took the opportunity to disclose key involvement and surprises throughout Bacchanal Jamaica’s Calendar of Events. Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs, The Hon. Babsy Grange noted Bacchanal Jamaica as a staple of the entertainment calendar and a welcome source of commerce for people from all walks of life, entertainment professionals to street vendors, who are able to benefit annually from the 10 week “season”.

Of course the hallmark of the launch was the display of colour, art form and “the carnival spirit come to life” in the costumes. True carnival lovers will tell you that your experience would be incomplete without “playing mas” or “jumping”. The display of freedom and glitz portrayed by the models is a reflection of what is expected and highly anticipated in Bacchanal Jamaica’s Road March on the streets of Kingston for May 1st, 2011.

So anticipated in fact, that with costume registration only opened for two weeks, three costume sections have already sold out. Opening night is must do for those looking to “get in a section” where all nine costume sections will be displayed as well as the party faithful. This year will welcome many new first time revelers as the buzz about the carnival costumes continues on social media spaces and costumes are going fast at the Mas Camp!

Opening Night marks the beginning of ten weeks of carnival lead up fetes dubbed Bacchanal Fridays. This week Dj Smoke of Renaissance will be marshalling proceedings alongside Sparkles Production. The sponsors have promised many promotions and giveaways. Last year tickets for the opening night sold out so get your tickets early!

Bacchanal has promised smooth access for the expected Bacchanal Massive but is encouraging pre-purchasing of tickets. Tickets for Bacchanal Fridays can be purchased at the Mas Camp at 1c Oxford Road, New Kingston from 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday to Friday. Registration for costumes can be done online at www.bacchanaljamaica.com and during Bacchanal Fridays until 2am at the Mas Camp.
