POS, Trinidad (Sonique Solutions) – Celebrated morning show hosts and Soca superstars Jason “JW” Williams and Ancil “Blaze” Isaac Jr have been nominated in three categories at the prestigious 30th annual International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) which is scheduled take place in the pair’s vibrant homeland of Trinidad and Tobago.

Within recent years JW and Blaze have played a strong role in Trinidad and Tobago’s pop culture landscape and have dominated radio, television and music with their creativity, wit and infectious personalities. At the ceremony on May 28th in the National Academy for Performing Arts, the dynamic duo will go up against top local, regional and international performers in the categories of “Best Male Calypso/Soca Entertainer”, “Best Song” and “Best Music Video”.

The pair’s 2010 mega hit tune “Palance” not only helped them capture the International Soca Monarch and T&T Road March titles but also propelled them into the upper stratosphere of the Caribbean music universe. These major wins afforded them the opportunity to tour the world extensively and spend the entire year of 2010 sharing stages with major headlining acts such as Ne-Yo, Nicki Minaj, Mavado and Machel Montano.

One half of the energetic Soca tag-team, JW shared that he is honoured to be recognized by an international body such as IRAWMA and that having this well known awards show on local soil is a great step in the right direction towards Caribbean unity and integration. The Synergy TV personality recalls having previously announced the winners of past IRAWMA ceremonies and feels blessed to be nominated alongside 2010’s leading performers and heavily rotated songs.

Williams further stated, “Blaze and I are looking forward to the great quality and prominence that the awards will be bringing to our local shores”.

Whether or not the ‘palancers’ will have the home field advantage is left to be seen at the International Reggae and World Music Awards on May 28th 2011. They will compete in three categories against music industry heavyweights including Billboard chart toppers Drake and Gyptian, Reggae crooner Jah Cure and current International Groovy Soca Monarch, Kees Dieffenthaller.

The 30th IRAWMA anniversary is sponsored by Blink/Bmobile, Angostura, the Hyatt Regency hotel Trinidad, TrinJam Restaurant, and is supported by many other respected partner entities.
