A labour of love, one of Toronto Carnival's newest bands, Renaissance Mas Productions (RMP) is aiming to "Preserve the Culture, One Sequin at a Time".

With a combined 30 years of mas between them, bandleaders Kathleen Hughes & Nataki Christmas are descendants of mas royalty.

Their 2011 presentation "Just Imagine"

Playing and producing mas since before walking, the duo feel it important to maintain the family aspects of the culture while balancing keeping an eye on the future.

The new band prepares for their Band Launch & Mother's Day Family Celebration on May 8th, 2011. This family centred event aims to please and will stimulate your mind and senses with array of colours, creativity, and theatrical expression, that, by way of its 5 adult and 3 children's sections, encourages you to "Just Imagine"!

The highlight of the evening will feature a stunning display of creative costumes dreamt up and designed by co-band leaders Kathleen Hughes and Nataki Christmas. Both children and adult costumes will be launched to coincide with Mother's Day celebrations. "Imagination is the work of the mind that helps create" and Renaissance Mas Productions is ready to show the world that they are here to stay with this one-of a kind sensation!

This showcase will be taking place at the Continental Soiree located at 1957 Kennedy Road in Scarborough. Doors open at 4:00 pm and showtime will be at 5:30pm. The first 100 Mothers will receive a rose and artistic "Happy Hour" drink specials will be available between opening and showtime!
