Anytime you have an opportunity to witness the recipient of the FIRST Grammy award for HIP HOP perform you should RUN.... not walk.. to the nearest ticket outlet. Jeffrey Allen Townes AKA DJ Jazzy Jeff was in town to do what he does best and he did not disappoint.

Black and yellow was the theme for the evening and, for the most part, almost everyone got the memo and came decked in their ""Bee-Like"" ensemble.
The turnout was indeed impressive, as is the case with any TEAM SWEETNESS event. The crowd, although impressive, was uncharacteristically timid to approach the stage and had to be coaxed into doing so. This was achieved through the sweet hypnotic sounds of soca music, and, just like the fabled pied piper of Hamelin they could not help but chip up to the front where they were teased by DJ WHITEBWOY who ripped through his set and made way for the man of the hour ...DJ JAZZY JEFF.

Once on deck JAZZ went through his set like only he can...yet to this day I could not discern whether the mood by some in the crowd was one of amazement or they did not really connect with the mixes. That being said Jeff did his thing and took the crowd on a musical megamix journey, triggering bouts of nostalgia where the crowd really came alive and sang along. Upon completion the crowd was not as appreciative as they SHOULD have been and the lukewarm reaction to the set in no way reflects Jazz's performance, which, in the humble opinion of the write,r was STELLAR.

SOCA SWEETNESS later stepped up and brought the crowd to a frenzy, as is the norm, prompting me to conclude that the TDOT is in full Carnival mode and may have contributed to the timid yet respectful reaction to Jazz's set.

All in all it was a GREAT night for music....ALL MUSIC ....I congratulate TEAM SWEETNESS for pulling off yet another successful event and urge everyone to keep their ears to the ground for the next event as this team is poised to claim the top spot for event planning.
