OCEAN Style and The American Friends of Jamaica, Inc. collaborate with Grey Goose Vodka for one of the hottest summer fundraising events in New York

(New York – July 6, 2011) OCEAN Style and The American Friends of Jamaica, Inc. (AFJ) join forces with Grey Goose Vodka to produce an elegant fundraising event to take place along the water in picturesque Bellport, New York on July 30. FashionShowcase by the Shore will feature clothing from top international and Caribbean designers and will be followed by an exquisite Charity Auction featuring a unique range of items – from exotic travel experiences to highly desired memorabilia.

“In supporting OCEAN Style’s effort to empower young talent in fashion, we continue the AFJ’s mission to provide access to solutions in education. It is a concerted effort to remove boundaries and mobilize action for the youth.” Caron Chung, Executive Director, AFJ, says.

Grey Goose Vodka sponsors the event which will feature a premium bar including a range of themed premium cocktails along with a sumptuous selection of appetizers.

On the collaboration, OCEAN Style VP of Broadcast Media Chie Davis says, “We are elated to partner with the AFJ on this event and have long respected them for the tremendous work that they selflessly do in raising funds and awareness to assist the youth in Jamaica.”

All proceeds from the event will benefit the AFJ and fund an OCEAN Style Scholarship for a student in the Caribbean to study fashion or the arts in the U.S. The AFJ is a 501c (3) non-profit organization and will be the recipient of all funds and donations.

“We intend to use our expanding reach to help young, ambitious and driven Caribbean students who wish to further their formal study of fashion or the Arts in the U.S." OCEAN Style Editor in Chief, Douglas Gordon says. “This event represents a small but formative step in our development as a business and hopefully even more significantly our ability to positively impact the lives of our readers. I look forward to the day when we can celebrate the success of a student who has been the beneficiary of one of these scholarships – whether that be in the world of fashion, the arts or otherwise.”

Past celebrity guests to the star-studded Fashion Showcase include Lennox Lewis, Tyson Beckford, Lauren London, Bryce Wilson, Anthony Anderson, Andy Cole, Donovan Bailey and New York fashion insiders Freddie Leiba, Essence Editor in Chief Constance White and Phillip Bloch.

FashionShowcase by the Shore will take place at the summer estate of James and Manuela Goren, located in the exclusive enclave of Bellport, NY, overlooking Fire Island.
