It was hard to follow J’ouvert Morning with the Monday Evening Street Party. However, the dedicated TJJ Carnival team proceeded to push through the lack of sleep and continued jamming to the pumpin’ vybz of the Vincy Soca (I don’t wanna go to work.... I don’t wanna go to work).

SVG Monday Street Party is a people’s Carnival, anyone who wants to join in on the festivities can! Now there are several T-Shirt Bands such as LIME, Network and The Mustique Company where only those who buy a package (EC$30-$40) can enjoy all the amenities of the band. But it was still hard to differentiate the paid band revelers from the stragglers and stormers.

There were loads of vendors on the side of the roads lined up with food carts, drink carts, snacks, even a man who configured a grill into the back of his car and was cooking fried chicken!  No lie.

Masqueraders were all over the road in their T-shirts, from white, lime green to orange, blue and so on. It became a sea of colors as they danced their way through the streets. Being on the trucks is always a plus for me. From there, you can observe everyone enjoying themselves... smiling, carrying-on, drinking, wining, singing and anything else that entails a street party. Not only did the Carnival junkies come out to celebrate but even on-lookers appeared in droves just to be a part of the atmosphere; alive and joyous. My favorite part of Carnival is seeing everyone enjoy themselves and congregate from all over the world for just one thing, the sum of Carnival time.

After a few hours on the road, we ended up liming in Heritage Square. I got a personal call from my belly saying it’s hungry.  And Famous Richie’s BBQ Shack came to the rescue! It’s a definite must-go-to place in of St. Vincent. There, you will often find Richie himself, serving you their famous wings and fries... BESS (9 out of 10 for Food/Drink if we were only rating Richie's)! Don’t be fooled by the oversized food truck because this little restaurant not only has amazing food, but stocks up pretty much any liquor you can ask for (even Sunset Light Rum for the light weights).

After our scrumptious meal we ended our day back at our usual spot, the Bank Yard (yes, the Bank’s parking lot). There we ran into everyone we had been seeing for the past week.  Around 8pm, Team TJJ and friends came to a unanimous decision and voted to call it a night as we are all excited the climax ... Tuesday Mardi Gras!

The Bands done load up already...
