Batting lashes and ‘sweet talkin’ three sets of Security Guards paid off … parking was a breeze … and you better believe it, ended up in VIP parking to boot! Tribe 2012 band launch got off to a niceeee start. We decided to wait it out in the car for a bit, taking in the eye candy passing by … ah yes … what else did you expect from two women?

Batting lashes and ‘sweet talkin’ three sets of Security Guards paid off … parking was a breeze … and you better believe it, ended up in VIP parking to boot! Tribe 2012 band launch got off to a niceeee start. We decided to wait it out in the car for a bit, taking in the eye candy passing by … ah yes … what else did you expect from two women? … And then we were off … to let Tribe take us there with their 2012 presentation ‘Take Me To…’

Venue: Tribe could not have chosen a better venue than concert capital, bringing mas to the savannah for the second time this year ... Déjà vu kicked in, it felt like Carnival Tuesday all over again … Thankfully, they utilized the paved part of the savannah … the chicks in heals, myself included, were relieved! The stage was positioned north and was high enough to provide a vantage view. For those who wanted a better view, three huge display screens provided this. VIP sections were located on both sides of the stage and two sets of bars lined the east and west perimeter of the compound. This made it easy to obtain drinks from any point … except when the east bar ran out of Vodka & Malibu!

Costumes: The colors were beautiful and bright, representing our Trinbago carnival … I must say though, I was a bit disappointed with the costumes. It was more like Take Me to Brazil than Take Me To … (anywhere in the world). There was overkill with the use of feathers which did not do justice … At some point the only distinguishing factors between the costumes were colors and the size of the head pieces … but who gives a damn about feathers or beads when we’re wining to sweeeet calypso in the blazing sun right?  The quality material looked good though. My personal favorites were Cancun, Dubai & St. Tropez.

Presentation: The presentation could have been better choreographed. In fact, the only part that appeared choreographed was the intro. The Air Hostesses added some ‘couture’ to the mas.  The female models were flawless with their trini beauty. The male models appeared a little out of sync with the music … Regardless of this though, their ripped chests & biceps, and their gyrating groins gained them some ‘oooohhhhssss’ and ‘aaaahhhhssss’ from the women. The presentation of Tribe’s ‘Take Me To’ - 12 section - 2012 band lasted all of approximately one hour … Really, I expected more … maybe some more gyrating … ha ha!

Vibes & People: The expected crowd was 4500 and from the turnout one would have to say that Trini people really love Carnival! The venue allowed enough breathing space. I must say though, that the fellas must have been happy because the ratio of gals to guys was not proportionate … The women clearly represented which sex dominates carnival! Overall vibes was energetic, especially when Kees hit the stage … as expected, the girls went wild! … The heightened number of security personnel patrolling also provided a sense of calm. Well done Tribe, the ladies certainly felt safe and enjoyed this one!

Performances: Kes the Band performing was a nice surprise which was not publicized until that day. Tribe kept this ‘hush hush.’ … It was not even printed on the tix! The performance lasted for 2 whole hours. I even found myself move from the back of the crowd to somewhere in the middle to get my ‘eye full’ of Kees’ bareback chest … now his signature move … we know to expect it! … And of course, we must end the fete with a rhythm section … just won’t feel like carnival if we doh hear some iron!

TJJ had a sweet time at this one, only good surprises. We look forward to seeing Tribe ‘Take me To’ on the streets in 2012! … PCQ you were dearly missed …
