This Sunday afternoon was one of the hottest of the year. . .literally! We've been suffering the 100 degree weather all week! All types of sexy and sophisticated came out to bake on the rooftop of the Brooklyn Children's Museum in East New York, Brooklyn. But it was worth it! Sugarcane Restaurant definitely allowed us to Flutter at this mid-summer event, and gave us some hope that summer is NOT OVER YET!

We arrived, and there was a cluster of folks standing outside of this event, dying to get in. This was a sold out event, from the top of the week prior to, but ticketless people got dressed up, prim and proper praying to the fete gods and goddesses that they will make it onto the inside, and make their way up to the social event of the summer. We arrived inside with absolutely no hassle nor question. Security was very welcoming and gave us special treatment because they recognized us as media.

We made our way up stairs, due to the helpful signs that guided us to an open flat, decked out in white and pastel coloured decor. Butterflies adorned the corners of the space, and clustered pillars. Pastel tulle in shades reminiscent of easter, laid lightly on walls, catching the occasional breeze, providing an airy atmosphere similar to something magical or in a  far away land, despite the humid stiff air.

All of Brooklyn's Caribbean scene socialites came out to show support and have a good time on this hot summer afternoon. They dipped specialized cocktails, and ate an array of Caribbean foods, especially those finger licking Trini dishes like Bake and Shark! Partygoers lined up to packed their plates with deliciousness courtesy of Sugarcane Restaurant :)

As with most summertime fetes, there was a live masquerade display which added some ooohs and ahhhhs. DJ's Anonymous, Dr Waxx, Spice and Notorious kept partygoers on their fete, especially with the maxi taxi tunes. Fete continue until 10, then we were kicked out. The party continued, as people continued to lime, laugh and engage in convo about what's left on this summer's agenda.

Much love to Charmaine for welcoming the TJJ family to every event she coordinates. We will continue to support you and filling our belly's at Sugarcane!

Till next time. . .Over and Out!

Cocoa Juice .... xoxo ...
