If there was ANY doubt or question concerning which promoter/s held the best and MOST AUTHENTIC J'OUVERT celebration, rest assured the answer was CLEARLY DEFINITIVELY and RESOUNDINGLY made known on Friday July 29 2011 at the Continental Soiree.
It has been the culture at most fetes for patrons to mill about in the car park for as much as an hour before entering the event. Not so with KOS J'Ouvert. There was a steady stream of people straight from their cars to the entrance just wanting to make sure that they were inside for this event. The reason for for their eagerness became apparent when, once inside, they were treated set after set of of pore-raising mixes served up by DJ 2 Touch whose skill and professionalism grows with each event.
The packed house was drenched in sweat as though the water truck had unleashed his payload inside. Still the DJs did not let up and were relentless in their servings much to the delight of the crowd who proved up to the challenge. Just when they thought that they had reached the height musical ecstasy KOS took it to another level with surprise guest performances by Iwer, Blaxx, Maddzart, Lil Bits and the original "Ah Trini" man himself Benjai all of whom gave stellar performances.
The icing on the cake came on the outside when the announcement was made that the water truck had arrived and that there was an ample supply of paint and powder to complete the J'ouvert experience.
The Toronto Carnival Season is packed with events that making a decision regarding which to attend can be a bit daunting. However make NO MISTAKE the KOS J'OUVERT Is a MUST MUST MUST ATTEND event. So for 2012 don't be the person who constantly asks "how it was?" and upon hearing responds by "oh gorsh !!!!! " Live the experience and be the one to tell the tale of the now LEGENDARY KOS J'OUVERT!
