The Wuk & Wine Bajan & Trini annual sold out boat ride takes place on the Circle Line, which leaves from 42nd Street in Manhattan. 2B and Dickeymon Promotions organized a party bus from Queens into Manhattan so the line seemed relatively short to the TJJ team when we first arrived. But soon a large group of happy well-dressed party people arrived on pier 83, screaming, laughing and holding red solo cups - I could tell that this ride would be a good one!

As we stood on the pier, a Circle Line sightseeing cruise pulled in and disembarked. There was a definite difference between the sightseers and the West Indian boat ride and it was amusing to watch the tourists peer over the side of the boat and wonder what all the commotion was about! LOL

As we boarded the boat, everyone seemed to have only one destination in mind: the food! And a nice spread it was, including 3 different types of rice, roti and chicken. I have never had so much food put onto my plate at a boat ride before- the portions were very generous, yet there seemed to be enough for everyone. Commendation to the promoters for having 2 separate food stations serving the same meal- the lines moved very quickly and people were soon eating and socializing.

After spending 15 minutes on the food, we made our way to the outdoor deck, where we were greeted by the sounds of the We Riddim rhythm band. It seemed that was where the action was and we spent quite some time laughing with and shooting pictures of the people who were getting on right in front of the band. But in truth, everyone was getting on and enjoying themselves, and the outside deck was soon ram with winin smiling people. Could it have been the DJs? Shout out to DJ Spice, Funky Fat Boy and Catman who kept the ride pumping with pure chunes!

I loved the vibe on this boat- everyone seemed to know one another, and people felt comfortable enough to free up, wuk & wine to their hearts content! There were some hilarious antics going on in the inside deck as well: TJJ never wants to tell on people but suffice it to say there were some people who were on their backs on the ground & winin their waists with abandon!

TJJ would like to send out thanks to the 2B Family and Dickeymon Promotions for having us on this fun ride and we look forward to enjoying some more wukkin & winin in 2k12!
