Big up to Busspepper for having the sense to change this fete to the Friday night! Just what we needed to get started for Notting Hill Carnival !!! This party should have really been called 'getting you in the mood' and we not talking candle light and Mr Loverman tunes kinda mood...we talking what d girl dem want...Hard wuk!!!
SO it's been a strange season so far with crazy kids looting the streets of London and threatening to shut down our carnival, but fear not the long awaited weekend is here and kicked off in style with a collaboration between Busspepper and UK TRIBE...Now traditionally this party takes places on the Sunday evening between the 2 carnival days, usually after we play dutty mas and go home and bathe off the chocolate and paint two or three times... and so you can imagine this fete is usually full of tired patrons knowing they have an early start the next day and lacking some vibes and energy... but not tonight! For tonight all the International TJJ posse have arrived in London town mate and it's Posh, Scorn, Daddy (Diddy?), Sweet Stamina Banana, Mizz Kayz and Phresh rolling through with special celebrity guests MJ and Russian Helga in the house!!! we coming to mash up !:)
We off to a fresh new venue, which is apparently a restaurant during the week but transformed well into party central for tonight, give or take a few sound system wobbles! Everybody even remotely in the mood for Notting Hill was in this fete and it's a real shame the bess TRIBE models were only on the big screen and not actually TAKEN TO us in person.. dam it !!! Guess we have to make do with the 6 month wait!! Rumour has it a lucky Lady having never been to T&T carnival won a TRIBE costume that was being given away and is now set to have a fabulous costume and experience courtesy of one Friday night out !!! Lucky girl, bet she will be Busspepper's biggest fan for life!!!
Down in The Gable drinks were reasonably easy to get, no long waits and surprisingly reasonably cheap for this part of town. Food as usual was on sale in the basement of the venue and well we can't comment because we were too busy jamming to sample the goods but we didn't hear any complaints so we can only assume all was good!!! Now it wasn't only team TJJ that was fully International tonight... Busspepper and TRIBE brought us a big DJ line up with Alicia D Duchess and Private Ryan flying in to join in the fun and rock some tunes alongside London's residents!...times to Jones and wuk up !!! and when K Marvel jump on top the DJ booth and start to wine down, the girls went crazy !!! Vibes may have been quiet tonight to begin with but boy oh boy did they warm up... all kinda jones, wuk up, flex, bend over and illegal wine went down in the city tonight... and when it was time to get going, people didn't want to leave...
So the Notting Hill weekend has begun.. bring on the Rum, we WOTLESS! No room to be stoosh tonight !!
'Not so Posh' Juice..

Fair enough that the party was great. That is a given. I think more props should be given to the resident DJs for a fab session especially lyrical louie (sp?). The dude can rock a crowd!!!
However, I'm clearly baffled at TJJ's response that the ladies went 'crazy' when K Marvel was performing. Really!? Were we at the same party? If crazy is the new name for being bored then yea they went crazy!!!! Sorry to say but the performance kinda killed the mood for me. Granted, Pressure was a good song but Bazodee!? It's a no for me! All round it was a good night. Venue I didn't like much and it was way to hot! |
