NEW YORK Oct 24th 2008 (NEW YORK): Special Events Company, Antilia, Inc. and the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company announce a Sneak Peak for Carnival 2009 at “Antilia Carnival” featuring Wyclef Jean live and hosted by AJ Calloway and Vashtie Kola on Thursday October 30th, 2008. Antilia Carnival, allows you to experience a taste of the bands, astounding costumes, music and unparalleled energy of Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival. – the 2nd largest Carnival in the world next to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The event features a spectacular costume catwalk from the costume collections of highly sought-after, rival Carnival bands. This will create history –marking  the first time ever that these bands have come together and presented on the same stage. Participating bands include: Island People Mas, Elements Carnival and Spice Carnival.

 EXTRA TV personality AJ Calloway, formerly of BET’s 106 & Park, is a frequent guest to Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival festival, and NYC trendsetter / Video Director, Vashtie Kola, former Director of Creative Services for Def Jam Records, is Trinidad-born.

Live Performances will be delivered by Soca/pop crossover sensation Rupee and Trinidadian style icon Kees, amongst others. Special guests include the newly appointed Head of the National Carnival Commission, Howard Chin-Lee, Miss Trinidad & Tobago 2008, Anya Ayoung-Chee, as well as representatives from the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Development Company.

Antilia’s Carnival is an “explosion of color, music, revelry” in an upscale and premium setting that welcomes Caribbean and non-Caribbean natives to “play mas”.
