Governor of Florida-Jennifer Carroll will be honored with the Caribbean American Civic Duty Award, at a special luncheon at the Trump International Hotel, Sunny Isles Beach. Jennifer Carroll is Florida's 18th Lieutenant Governor. She was a state legislator for over seven years, a small business owner, former Executive Director of Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs and a Navy veteran. Carroll is an example of the American Dream comes true. She was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad West Indies, immigrated to the United States as a young child, and served her adopted nation honorably and with distinction. Carroll enlisted in the United States Navy in 1979 rising from the ranks of an enlisted jet mechanic to retire as a Lieutenant Commander Aviation Maintenance Officer after 20 years. She was awarded the Florida Chamber of Commerce Honor Roll consecutively since 2004, Faith and Family Award from the Christian Coalition of Florida 2005 & 2008, Florida Veterans Service Officers Association Legislator of the year award 2009 and Florida Retail Federation Legislator of the Year 2010.Carroll is married to Nolan Carroll of Miami and they have three children, Nolan II, Nyckie and Necho.

The event Master of Ceremony will be Peter Bailey who is an American author and journalist. Originally from Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Bailey is well known for his gritty, but yet inspirational profile stories on unsung heroes in Miami's impoverished inner city. Bailey graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in English with a concentration in journalism. Upon graduation, he went on to write for Newsweek then Time magazine. His reporting landed him interviews with major figures including former President Bill Clinton, Guyana President Bharrat Jagdeo, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and recording executive Russell Simmons. Bailey wrote a New Times Best Seller, "Magic City: Trials of a Native Son" which was published by MTV Books/Pocket Books and was released on November 16, 2010. Since January of 2011, Bailey is the host of NBC NiteCap on NBC 6 Miami. The benefactors of the luncheon, group director Mr. Vernon Brooks desire to maintain Caribbean culture and support community youth, motivated him to create the Mocko Jumbie Youth Stilt Dancers 16 years ago. Today, he shares his talent with young people from all nationalities, whom are interested in learning to stilt dance.
