Sunday, October 26 - Kingston, Jamaica: We are already several weeks into the Digicel Premier League and it seems as if the fans are turning back to the league.

For a long time, the local Premier League has been suffering from lackluster play and a myriad of other issues. This coupled with the crumbling of the league's sponsors last year, caused fans from all over the island to cash in presold tickets and change the stations on their television sets.

"The whole league a look stronger now" says Paul, a 21 year-old Portmore United supporter. "When you look round you realize that no team have any sure points this time around. Last year, certain side you could almost hand dem the points before the match." he continued.

The same sentiments are shared by Reno supporter Andre: "This year is anybody's year in the league" he said. "I live in town and last year mi never used to like watch the match them, but now it look like it a get better; even though mi side not doing so well."

Interestingly enough, the fact that Digicel has come on board as the title sponsor has in itself renewed hope in the fans.

"From Digicel take the ting, mi know seh di league not going to go under" said Teddy, a fan of Harbour View, "Too much credit sell fi that gwaan".

Rory, another Portmore United fan believes the same: "Digicel is a company with much more stability than Cashplus was so the league is immediately better off."

So it looks as if this year's Digicel Premier League is poised to take off. Whether top teams like Portmore and Harbour View can hold on to their early lead or current cellar dwellers Arnett and Meadhaven can rise above is yet to be seen. One thing is sure however, this season is poised to be a humdinger.
