All odds were against us tonight. We took a lil rest after a long beach lime, only to wake up after the Groovy Monarch competition had already began. After rushing to organize ourselves, car trouble was waiting outside for us...Just great! Not to mention, Rain!. Soca Monarch competition was about to start. We crammed in another ride and made our way to the National Stadium. *deep sigh*

We listened to the show on the radio, until we finally arrived, found a park, and began our way around the stadium to the entrance. We couldn't get a parking space any closer, because apparently every car on the island could be found here tonight. We walked and walked and walked... A souped up Wrangler lodged in a ditch, eased up our sour mood with a good lil laugh. We finally made it in easily and was directed by some of the Carnival Committee staff. The show had already met its halfway mark ... Zingo, Nekoyan, Luni Sparks and Electrify, Mr. Leggs and Inspector were amongst the remaining performers. We were grateful to be there in time for the most anticipated act of the night. It was Terror Kid who stole the show. Terror Kid took the stage in his get-up, dressed like a clash between Moses and Santa Claus, as we performed his tune "Last Days". Rain, Thunder, Lightening, stormed the National Stadium with a performance by a newcomer that would take the title as king by the end of the night.

From what we hear, it was well deserved! We glad to hear that this year the masses agreed with the judges decision!

We sped out of the stadium after the last performance. We didn't hear the results of the winners because we were already making our way to De Permit Fete.

Carnival Rules:
  • 1. Do not take naps once the sun goes down! You go miss yuh fete!
  • 2. If yuh hear it start at 8! Don't listen to Grenadians who tell you "d real ting startin 10 gyul!" Chances are, it start quite 7...
