CROWD:
As a first time patron to Rise Miami meets Shine New York….I was given
plenty “what to expect information”!!!! I was also told why I would and
wouldn’t enjoy myself. But NOW that I’ve actually attended
let me tell you something, this is one fete where I am sure people come
out with the intention to have a good time. From the time you
get out of your car, you saw nothing but a sea of yellow, followed by
good looking women with very little clothes, (Men picture MAS, MINUS
THE FEATHERS). The majority of people quickly join the line to get inside and
get their opportunity to Jones & Wuk Up. Now I will have to take
this opportunity to agree with what I was told - if you like to go to
parties and hold up walls and not jump up, or wine down then this is
NOT the party for you! BUT if you’re looking for a breakfast
party where the majority of patrons are doing 6:30 then grab a bumsee
and let them know that you came to enjoy your carnival as well.
VENUE/ACCESSIBILITY:
Does anybody else feel the Hot Sun?! Nah I don’t think so!
Rise meets Shine this year was held at the beautiful Virginia Key Beach.
TJJ reached the dance in true fashion (A lil Tardy to the Party) around
10:30am BUT what seemed to be just in time to get those that had been
enjoying themselves since Rise meet Shine open at 6am in the mist of
their enchantment with the music and vibes. The DJ Booth was set
on top of a stage that faced the crowd but with a back drop of the beach and as the party went on TJJ caught a few Party Goers taking the opportunity
to pose for pictures in the water (with SocaVivor 5 events we are sure
patrons wanted to take advantage of being near the beach I’m Mean
beaches=Miami right?). The accessibility to the venue was easy
enough, Patrons had to pay $10 for parking not sure how many were aware
of this beforehand.
VIBES:
Are they Throwing Money?! Who are they?! And why are they throwing Money
LOL..that was the questioned asked by party goers as a group of men
took to the stage and decided to throw out money..is this what is considered
Vibes?! Is this really a question we have just described a group of
party goers that came out to have a good time, which in my TJJ opinion
will guarantee you as the party goer will have a great time! None
of this posing and anything too fancy, not once did I notice
people just standing around, if you took the occasionally stop to rest
yuh feet, or shake that kink out your quad, the DJ would quickly switch
the tune and get you right back into the vibes. The DJ line up
was phenomenal including Gisselle D Wassi One, Young Chow (BIG UP)!, Private Ryan, Back to Basics, and included
once again a live drummer who provided the rhythm section for the event.
FOOD/DRINK:
Poppin Bottles Galore! Rise Miami meets Shine patrons don’t
drink cups, they Pop Bottles!! Grey Goose, Johnnie Walker, Hennessy
and anything else you could think of was being passed around.
There were two bars located at the party, one in the general admittance
area that ran the length of the venue and one inside the VIP area.
Now while it seemed that a large majority of the patrons had VIP wrist
bands the vast majority of them stayed in the general admittance area.
Food was also available for sale in the VIP area, so just in case in
the mist of Rising and Shining you felt a small bit of hunger pain you
could fix your mix with a plate of white rice, jerk chicken or pork
with some cabbage.
SERVICE:
TJJ received no complaints as far as the service provided at the venue,
it seemed that all patrons received their drinks in a timely manner.
By 11:30am there was not a spot at the venue that was not occupied by
one group of people. Keeping this in mind it wasn’t that there
wasn’t any space it’s just that patrons did not want to leave their
spots that were located directly in front of the DJ booth. To
the right and the left of the massive crowd of party goers (Advice do
not attempt to walk through the crowd when anything rowdy gets played
and if you happened to get caught in the jump up, just join in the fun)
there was plenty of space.
COST/VALUE:
Tickets cost $25 seemed to be right on target for what this party and
venue provided. No one seemed to have any disagreements when it
came to the value for their money. One piece of advice though
from this TJJ perspective is come EARLY..Find a spot in front of the
DJ and HOLD IT DOWN! But most importantly come with an open mind, be
prepared to see wassi behavior, be prepared to lose yourself for a bit
in the crowd and the vibes, and as always suggested by TJJ, only YOU
can ensure that you will have a BESS TIME!!
Con Mucho cariño
