A fitting theme for this year’s event could have been, Soka in Muddy Moka! However, rain could fall, sun could be blazing hot, you cah stop ah Trini from feting. According to the MC, Jason Williams, the only thing rain does stop is cricket. Feters came out in their numbers and apparently with their umbrellas. The crowd was generally a bit mature probably that could explain the lack of vybes and crowd response during the live performances by Kees the Band, Dil E nadan and Roy Cape All Stars featuring Blaxx, Patrice Roberts and Kerwin Dubois. Overall the performances were ahrightist, Kees gave an energetic performance as usual, he belted hit after hit even ones that aren’t his. To me, Blaxx, just like Sampson lost his strength after cutting his locks off, as he gave a not as accustomed dull performance, it seemed wild and unrehearsed. Dil E nadan on the other hand wasn’t too shabby they kept the crowd ‘moving’ and singing along to the oldies even and oldie himself, The Honorable Professor Big Max, was proudly singing along.

There was an array of food to choose from, Chinese to Indian, ice cream to chocolate covered paw paw balls. The line for the suckling pig was longer than the line to get in and relentless party goers stood in the rain just to get a taste of the stuffed dumplings and wantons. However from personal experience this line was not worth the wait, frankly the best tasting thing was the salted prunes. What made this worst was after standing in line for almost an hour, the bar –b –? (not sure what the hell it was) chicken was raw, even last resort, doubles was tasteless. I guess patrons enjoyed the pholourie as almost everyone was seen with a plate in their hands, couldn’t tell for sure as I was unwilling to take up anymore of my drinking time by standing in another long line.
