As the second week of the new year rolled in, the events came in at the same pace. This week the Jokey One made his way to the Queen's Park Oval. No ladies and gentlemen, I wasn't looking for a late night game of cricket, but to be in attendance for one of Carnival's most anticipated events; Stumped. Now this was my first experience so let's see the event hit a 6 out of the oval, or did exactly what the title said.... Stumped. TO THE REVIEW!!

First things first, let's deal with the short comings of this event. Now to me there was only one problem that stood out for me and it only took place outside the venue; parking. There weren't any assigned parking spaces for patrons so people had to rely on the guards and security that were patrolling the area of the city to ensure the safety of their vehicles. But with that being said, with the amount of people in attendance, some people found themselves having to park in unlawful manners, which eventually caused their cars to be carried away by the tow truck who was in full force and good form. Cars were being swept off in less than thirty seconds. Anyway, now that that's out the way, lets get to the juicy stuff.

As I entered the Oval, the energetic ambiance, and fun free vibes of the people filled the air. Did I mention it was a cooler party? Even though it was labelled a cooler party, a lot more patrons followed the new trend and walked with their trusty bucket to supply their beverages. Sweeping the area it became clear to me that this was a party for both the young and young at heart. Everyone danced under the dark carpet, being tantalized by the soca music of 2012.

The vibes and energy never seemed to subside, and to amplify it live performances was upon us. D "Bachannalist" Kerwin Dubois graced the stage singing his contributions for this year, and some of his past tunes.....even being joined on stage with Bunji Garlin to perform "Runaway". Afterwards, it was Bunji's turn to have the crowd singing along to his music, then bringing on stage his wife Faye Ann Lyons to keep the crowd pumped. Other performers such as K-Rich and Mr. Renzo also graced the stage. Mr. Renzo was then joined by Swappi, which had the crowd in a frenzy, especially when he began his "Bucket" song, which seems to be the favorite going into the Soca Monarch Semi-Finals. To put icing on this cake, the sounds of a rhythm section filled the air having us remember our routes of music. It was truly a bat for 6 and not out party. The Jokey One was pleased.

Thank you to the Red Ants and QPCC comittee for having the TJJ family present at the event. To all performers, DJ's and members of staff present, you all made this show a definite one to look forward for in years to come in my book. The Jokey Juice wasn't stumped at Stumped.... he made his century!

S&P!
