"Plenty vibes and plenty action" is the phrase that can best describe Karambouly Creations’ “Spice of The Caribbean”. Held on Sunday 5th February 2012 at the Twin Walls compound, La Romaine, the event failed to disappoint, as patrons were treated to a wide array of food and drinks and non-stop entertainment. Only in its 6th year, Spice of the Caribbean can arguably be one the best all-inclusive parties in the southland for Carnival 2012.

The food court was sensibly placed away from the party area giving patrons the opportunity to comfortably dine in the seating area provided. Also, what was impressive was the extensive selection of food. There were the traditional all-inclusive’s must haves like crab and dumpling bake and shark and doubles but the souse, oysters, pepper roti, coo-coo and callalo were welcome variations to the menu. The shrimp pepper roti was, in one word, "BESS!" Additionally, the lines moved relatively fast and the service was great.

I love how most premium drinks have a separate bar. However, it can be somewhat of a task when the bar with your drink of choice is situated at the next end of compound. Beyond that, the main bars were well stocked and conveniently positioned and the service was extremely fast. Strangely enough, It was the first all-inclusive I have attended and saw “puncheon”. As you can see, everyone was catered for.

Destra and her band mashed up the place like normal with guest appearances from TC, Rikki Jai and Drupatee. However, the night belonged to Karma, who had the crowd eating out of their palms. I would be the first to admit, I was not the biggest Karma fan but after that performance, I would have to change my mind. The Point Fortin Rhythm Section and a tassa group also formed part of the entertainment lineup.

It appeared that patrons began to enjoy themselves more in latter portion of the event. I don’t know if the change was because the sun began to set or that the alcohol now kicked in. The layout was functional, security was present, parking was adequate, toilets were cleaned and maintained (ah kinda forgot dey were porta potties, fuss dey nice), everything that you would need to have a fantastic evening.

A well put together event.
