In the beginning, there was sobriety, God made Trini Carnival and he saw that it was good. He then made man, woman and rested. But later on God realized that he needed a safe environment with lots of drink and food, so the `ALL INCLUSIVE  FETES` was born, and we have never looked back since that day.So for a Trinidadian domiciled in the United States for the last 12 years and not having been to a carnival fete in Trinidad for the last 14 years, nursing a fever and all, I decided to accept the invitation from the Jokey One to accompany  him to an All Inclusive, Rhythms of Carnival-4 at Jamboree Park, North Valsyn .

We arrived at 7:30pm, and the promoter was there to greet us at the main entrance, nice guy, very pleasant. We were told to feast on all the drinks, foods and `breakfastes`, that were available sadly, this time I could not do so, nursing a fever. But nevertheless even though I could not jump and wave , drop my drawers or get on bad, as a musician I decided to mingle with the people and enjoy the music, which I had not heard for the past 14 years. The first band on stage was ok, they were supported by a good sound engineer & system. The House DJ was first class between all acts; this guy knows and understands music. The supporting acts including Supa Jigga TC & Shal Marshall performed between band changes were very good, full of talent. The next band on stage was Imij &Co, but before they performed, the legendary cross over and reigning Chutney Monarch Ricky Jai, hit the stage. So much was expected of him and he did not let his fans down, giving one of those sterling performances like 14 years ago, when I last saw him on stage.

Imij and Co was next, and by now the large crowd was ready to party. The band is now much smaller, but with Joey at the helm, and Ghetto Flex; a veteran himself, they have lost nothing. At about 10:00 p.m…food galore man. You talk about food. The food tents numbering about 12 in all served every possible “trini” dish that you can imagine. And the drinks tents served whatever was available on point. Jamboree Park was now about three-quarter full with partygoers, and with the last band to come, all hell broke loose Trini style. K I  & JMC 3VENI with Rita Jones from get go had the crowd eating out of their hands, starting with K I`s  2012 chutney hit “Single. They went on and on with a variety of music, old and new which in my opinion was great.

First I would like to thank the promoter Mr. Rick alongside his team at Rick City Promotions Ltd. for being a good host, having great food, drinks and tight security all night long. To all party goers be sure that next year you add Rhythms of Carnival 5 2013 to your list of must attend All Inclusive.
