As we approached the “Biggest Show” in the world, the people of Normandie Hotel wanted to have their guests and attendants party under the trees of their compound. So said, so done. Now it wasn’t their first contribution like this, but tonight it was time to get “Wotless.” And we all know we cannot use that word now without having one individual pop into our brains. Yes, I’m talking about Mr. Wotless himself; Kes. With Kes The Band being the reigning Groovy Monarch, the hotel staff wanted to give us a treat by having a live show where the young and young at heart can enjoy all the music of Kes The Band.

First things first, parking at the hotel was a bit of a problem. When the parking facilities at the Chinese Association was filled to max, patrons found themselves parking on the sidewalks, hoping the faithful tow truck doesn’t come and cause a headache. Now this is something The Jokey One needs to get off my chest. For the mature crowd, here’s some advice. If you know you are not at the age to take “Wotlessness”, please proceed to the back of the crowd. I know you came to party with the stars and have a good time, but if your timeframe and rhythm is not able to keep up with the younger crowd, don’t come to the front to deprive us. Aahh, now I feel better. As we were saying…

As the king of groovy soca entered the stage, the intensity of the environment grew off the scale. Entertaining is an understatement of the performance Kes the band put on. The stage was designed with wires and technology, which made his presence even more electrifying.  Singing all his groovy contributions with even some of his songs on his albums had the crowd swaying, jumping and singing along from beginning to end. Now Kes being the humble person he is showed his support to young upcoming artists such as K Rich by letting him have a time performing for his crowd; further more asking the crowd if they all believe K Rich should’ve gotten into the finals of the Groovy Monarch.

Then it was time for him to bring out his barrage of other friends in the music industry. From duos such as JW & Blaze and Supa Jigga TC;  to the living legends like Lord Nelson & David Rudder. It was really a treat to both the young and the young and young at heart. Kes Live Under The Trees at Normandie Hotel was really an experience that attendees would’ve never forget, making it a must go for Carnival 2013.

We at TJJ would like to thank the Normandie Hotel for having such a wonderful event. To all members of staff, security and everyone in attendance, much appreciation for making it such a great experience. And to “Mr. Wotless” we wish him all the best in defending his crown at the Soca Monarch Finals. From his performance at this event, it is a no-brainer to not know that he has a trump card in a pack.
