Diary of a Fatima Virgin
 
I must say that when I was invited to attend Fatima’s fete I thought gee that’s going to be as much fun as watch paint dry – why me? A school fete? Yawn!
 
So needless to say when I got there I didn’t have high hopes especially as we were late as always. The traffic wasn’t a good sign and the car park in the college’s sports field … not good news, especially since it was a ‘wear white’ theme, thoughts of white heels sinking into the mud filled me with dread. But I shouldn’t have been worried; the car park attendant were parking cars in there like they landing 747’s and as I jumped out of the car a shuttle was there to collect us. The funny thing is that if we’d walked to the place the shuttle dropped us it might have been faster, given that the guy took the longest route round d car park; guess he needed to feel useful.    
 
Once inside the fete it was nice to see a decent size crowd sticking to the ‘white’ theme; the blue and green lighting used around the courtyard bouncing of the white was a nice touch. As I do in each All Inclusive fete is look for the champagne bar, once spotted my sister said adios to the boys and headed over to check out the options. I must say at this, and all the bars at Fatima All Inclusive, the selection of drinks was premium and there was no shortage of friendly bar staff either. Champagne bar – check! We were then off to the Rum Cocktails where we met some extremely happy patrons loading up on the sugary - I still looking for the rum drinks, clearly these chaps weren’t late like us.
 
We then headed over to the Wild Meat – another must at true all inclusive. What I want to know is why is the wild meat line always the longest??!! To my disappointment there was wild hog and duck..... People duck is NOT WILD! Dressed in white balancing the saucer with curry duck and hog on the champagne glass trying not to mess up we clothes and wondering why there isn’t anywhere for us to sit? But anyway, while we were sampling the drinks apparently the boys were checking out the food and of course the abundance of lovely ladies at the fete. Reports are that the crab and dumpling was boss, the doubles with gator good and the pulled pork excellent. Anyone that went to Fatima to eat was not disappointed. 
 
Performances during the night included Roy Cape All Stars, Dil-E-Nadan and Kes the Band. How was Roy Cape featuring lead singer Blaxx ... no idea? I was late … remember! Dil-E-Nadan with frontline Raymond, Dr. Seals and Candy Hoyte were good … it’s always nice to see other the crossover bands at carnival, it showcases a different part of our culture. You don’t expect to go to a fete and see the crowd doing the ‘screw the light bulb’ dance. Kes the Band, although well received by the Fatima crowd, did the same performance I saw them do at every other fete I saw the band at for the season (and I saw them quite a few times) – come on Kes, you could do better than that!
 
All in all, I would say (and my sis agrees) Fatima All Inclusive was the best fete we went to for the season. It had the best vibe, best drinks and food for the price. Any fete where you kick off your shoes to wine with your friends in the grass is BESS. I am not a Virgin anymore. I will see you again next year Fatima!
