Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. March 26, 2012 -- Described as a musical genre that arose out of the Black Experience in the United States, Soul music has infiltrated the airwaves from continent to continent over the past 60 years. In 2012, Soul music will strike hard in T&T as four of the world’s most notable soul men are heading to the island known best for Soca and Calypso rhythms with the aim of re-establishing the importance of showing love, feeling love and standing up for love.

The concert affair, which is scheduled to take place at the Queen’s Park Savannah from 8pm on April 28, will feature Freddie Jackson, Jeffery Osborne, Peabo Bryson and the master, James Ingram. In recent years, the Men of Soul tour has touched down in numerous states across the US, however in 2012, prior to their arrival in T&T, Jackson, Bryson and Osborne together with their counterpart Howard Hewitt will perform in Oakland, California on April 6. Their three shows in February were all reportedly well attended as over the years, the tour has garnered a number of positive reviews with patrons describing it as a concert well worth their time and money.

With a large cross section of T&T being un-serviced over the years when it comes to adult musical entertainment, organisers of this show are guaranteeing a truly incomparable experience. “This show has been in the making for months. We’ve been in contact with the artistes for some time and they are all excited to perform for the people of Trinidad and Tobago,” said a representative of the organising team. Noting that they are expecting a crowd of patrons who have a true appreciation for soul music and love ballads, the organiser called on youths to come out with their parents and elder family members as well. “Young and mature should attend this concert. Come feel the energy of music that has stood the test of time. Nobody should feel that this show is for a particular age demographic. Once you represent love, this concert is for you. Whether you’re 19 or 90, you’re welcome and we’ll make you feel comfortable throughout the experience.”

With such distinguished brands having joined in to make the show a successful one, Men of Soul and A Master is being touted as one of the highlights of Trinidad and Tobago’s 2012 calendar. All four artistes on the cast have shone magnificently at arenas worldwide. Their hits are plenty and like fine wine, it is noted that their voices have seemingly become sweeter over the years. The show will kick off promptly at 8pm on April 28 and tickets are already on sale at a number of regular outlets across the island. “People have been yearning for a show of this caliber for years so we know it’ll be a great event.
