So The Tobago Jazz Experience 2012 was in full swing. With a little break from World Music Night after being placed in a trance by the likes of Emeli Sandé and Janelle Monáe , we were ready to go again. Now instead of going to pan night of the Jazz festival we took a detour to Shirvan Plaza to be part of The Rooftop Rave hosted by aDventure Entertainment & Whiteflag Entertainment. Now in all serious honestly...there might only be a handful of people in Tobago that actually know what a real ‘rave’ is, but hell, that didn’t stop anyone from having a good time!

Call it good timing or being late but I dropped in right when it was time for the performances to start. Things got kicked off with Tobago’s very own Tele Cruz who got the crowd going with his current hit ‘Rude Gyal’ and even brought some actual rude girls to so you could have an example to go with the lyrics...From there they went to another Tobago born the original ‘Water Man’ Pancho who performed his carnival hit ‘Limbo’. With a few other songs after that there was a decent sized break before the Trini stars were due.

Even though I didn’t get as many photos to prove it, this was a ladies event. It was advertised as such with the guest artists being ‘The Sexiest Men in Soca’ (basically...fellas were just there to buy drinks). So it was no surprise that when the performances started, a bevy of beauties aligned themselves to the front of the stage. Things really started to heat up when Kimba Sorzano made his way to the stage. His hit ‘Over You’ was probably the most appropriate of the night since everyone was definetly ‘floating on CLOUD9’. The girls knew he had to leave the stage but they clearly didn’t want him to.

After the break the ball got rolling again with the Spaniard Bunji Garlin who totally levelled the crowd. As if hit after hit wasn’t enough, he took the music down and gave some ‘Big People Freestyle.’ He definitely reminded people why one of the greats in Soca is today.

Strike three was Kees Dieffenthaller, who in all form and fashion gave the people what they wanted (especially the ladies).  He started ‘Wotless’ and ended up taking everyone’s ‘Stress Away’. By the time his performance was over the sun started to peak, but the part wasn’t over. Chromatics gave a touch at the mic and for those that were left kept the party going just a bit longer. The police shut down the dance at exact 6...well almost; they gave a bligh for one more song...so 6:05 you could say.

The after the after party party went to Storebay from the looks of it...guess it was too early to come off the cloud...
