Straight from the airport do the dance. Do not pass go, no stopping at the hotel.  And this was just the first stop of the night of an interesting and fun night.

On a night like tonight with clear skies and a cool breeze, a rooftop venue is an excellent location to vibes to soca music and take in a few drinks at the bar.

The early session was warmed up by the DJ who was getting the folks in the mood for what was to come later on.  The opening act for the night was none other than Oscar B who proved himself to be a real crowd pleaser, interacting with the crowd like a seasoned showman. The headliner for the night was of course the Bajan Soca Queen herself Alison Hinds who reunited with her former Square One bandmate Andy 'Blood' Armstrong.  With a catalog of hits going back decades and no strangers to the stage they put on a show all in attendance that had folk with their hands in the air, signing along and bracing and wukking up. And better yet, they dropped their spanking new 2012 Crop Over releases on the 'Greenlight Riddim' - "Soca Till We Die" by Alison and "GO!" by Blood, and without fail the Rooftop crowd demanded an encore.

It must be noted that the lovely ladies working the bar kept the drinks flowing and were generous with the pour :-)

This was a good way to start off the weekend of activities and one to mark on your calander for next year.
