Organized by the Batabano Committee this year's Carnival Friday show featured local band Cay NRG, Soca Queen Alison Hinds, Andy Armstrong and Oscar B and his band. Cay NRG handled themselves well and gave a polished performance while featuring Pirates Week Festival Song Winner Vashti Bodden. The event also featured skillful moko jumbies and various carnival characters. Never before have I seen moko jumbies jump over two women standing tall. My heart was in my mouth for a fraction of a second - but they did it! Well done!

The crowd at first was a bit sparse but by the time the Queen arrived on stage the place had filled up in a big way.  And she did not disappoint. Looking regal in a baby blue corsetted dress with the sexiest sequented boots I have seen in Cayman - I want one! - she put on a show!  When winer/muscle man Vybez came on stage to test the wine she did look a bit winded but hey! I have yet to see a woman who's able to handle his stamina, wining skillz and dexterity without some heavy breathing! De man baaaaad!

When I got dressed that night Text-a-holic sent a pic to bossman/Nazi aka Carnival Ref and he scoffed at  my lil "costume" something about if Roopie confuse carnival and halloween. But when Andy came out and he sang "Somebody Kitty Kat get away" I had the last laugh! puuuuurrrrr. Witty...well corny really, as I am my costume for the night was all for one punch line! And it wasn't that the kitty kat got away...but that she CAUSING TROUBLE! SO MUCH AH TROUBLE!  Somebody say yeah yeah!!!

With 3 events on in the same night and staffing thin we had to mosy on to the next event before the 3am lights out policy on the island. I am sad to say I didn't get to see Oscar B perform. This man has done some good work for our culture!! Thank you.

All in all the street fete was nice!
