(BROOKLYN, New York): With a little more than a month to go before the ultimate costumed street party takes New York City by storm, plans are cranking into high gear with arrangements in place for four (4) days and nights of high-energy concerts and events including (WIADCA 2012 Steelband Panorama) at the Brooklyn Museum Stage. The 2012 Labor Day Carnival Festival will officially kick off on Sunday, July 29th with a massive outdoor Carnival Jamboree at KC’s Hideaway in Brooklyn from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm.

The theme for the 2012 is “Caribbean Unity, History and Culture”

“We are going to present a well-managed and organized Carnival Festival. The New WIADCA Team has been hard at work since I became president on April 12 this year. It has been a .challenge because the transition was not as smooth as I would have liked. But we have been blessed with support and goodwill from a number of quarters and if there are shortcomings this year, rest assured, we will be better in 2013. We have already started to plan for 2013 and our 50th anniversary,” said Tom Bailey, President WIADCA.

Preparations for the final leg of WIADCA 2012 Carnival Festival & Parade took off with flying colors on July 11th with the start of Vendor Registration for the grand Eastern Parkway Parade. This year will see a return to the carnival tradition with unique demonstrations of traditional mas, steel pans “around the neck” and other not seen masquerade offerings in New York City.

Labor Day Carnival is the most well-known, important and exciting event in New York annually which makes this cultural presentation unique among Carnivals around the world.
The culinary delights offered by hundreds of ethnic food vendors from every culture, line both sides of the 19 blocks of Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn with a wide variety of tantalizing and mouth-watering dishes to suit every taste.

The camaraderie of friends and family is contagious as millions of happy spectators, thousands of costumed revelers and scores of flatbed music trucks blast their heart throbbing Soca, Calypso and Reggae music, enough to hypnotize spectators and transform innocent bystanders into frenzied dancers.

Since merriment includes great food, Vending was opened to the public on July 11th and will end on August 22nd. Starting from August 1st 2012, WIADCA will have late hours for vendor registration on Wednesdays and Fridays till 7:00pm. All payments are by Money Orders only and made payable to WIADCA Inc.

WIADCA has instituted strict guidelines this year:
EVERYONE MUST HAVE WIADCA ISSUED 2012 VENDING CREDENTIALS TO VEND ON EASTERN PARKWAY. VIOLATORS WILL BE ISSUED SUMMONSES AND GOODS CONFISCATED.
