On Saturday 21st July, the Digicel IMAX hosted its first Telugu/Tamil language movie premiere. The critically acclaimed movie of the evening called ‘EEGA’and was viewed by over 200 persons, including the Indian High Commissioner the Honourable Malay Mishra, CEO of the Digicel IMAX Miss Ingrid Jahra and Chairman of the Digicel IMAX Mr Brian Jahra. Many of the patrons who came from Southern Trinidad enjoyed a first time experience at the theatre and enjoyed specially made Indian delicacies including pakora, seasoned rice and samosas.

Distributors of the movie Dr. Kalichand Myneni and Mr. Roberts Prashanth Buthapati from the South of India expressed great satisfaction with the solid turn out and the positive feedback from the movie. “We would like to expose more Trinidadians to these films. They are very popular in India now and we would definitely like to bring more. Senior Marketing Officer, Charissa Minty also expressed her delight for the movie. “We at the Digicel IMAX were very interested to showcase great East Indian movies. I was also quite impressed with the graphics and the visuals of the movie and it filled our entire screen which was great! With the successful showing of this movie we look forward to working with Dr. Kalichand and Mr. Roberts in the near future with other films such as these.” With highly positive reviews worldwide, the producers of the film are reportedly considering the idea of making a sequel; they are still very much in the early stages.

About EEGA
Eega (titled Naan Ee in Tamil) a Indian bilingual socio fantasy film - surrounds three main characters - Nani a good hearted guy, Bindu his female neighbour who he is in love with and Sudeep the jealous multimillionaire and womanizer. Sudeep takes Bindu out to dinner, and later finds out that Nani is in love with Bindu. Sudeep kidnaps Nani and ruthlessly kills him. Nani is then reincarnated as a housefly and seeks to avenge his death. The Fly, uses Bindu's tears on her desk to write out the words, "I am Nani". He then shows Bindu that it was Sudeep who killed him, and that he was reborn as a fly. Bindu, now teams up with Nani to make Sudeep's life a living hell, and they both try to kill him. In the end, they succeed, but Nani, The Fly, dies. But he is shown back as a fly again in his third birth, and eternally protecting the love of his life, Bindu, forever.
