(New York, NY - July 27, 2012) OCEAN Style put Caribbean culinary excellence on display to a discerning audience of foodies, journalists and trendsetters last week at New York’s chic Studio 450. RESERVEDnyc – Chefs of the Caribbean brought together a cross-section of chefs from the region and Caribbean chefs based in New York for an evening that showcased the rich and sophisticated culinary talents available in the Caribbean.

OCEAN Style held the first RESERVED event at The Tryall Club in Jamaica earlier this year.

The featured chefs for RESERVEDnyc – Chefs of the Caribbean were: Chef Christophe Blatz - Executive Chef at Curtain Bluff Resort, Antigua (Antigua), Chef Veejooruth Purmessur - Group Pastry Chef Sandals/Beaches Resorts (Bahamas), Chef Sean John - Chef/Owner at Spur Tree Restaurant, New York (Jamaica), Chef Kevin Broderick - Executive Chef, The Spa Retreat Boutique Hotel, Jamaica (Jamaica), Chef Kingsley John - SoCo Restaurant, New York (St. Lucia)

Enjoying spectacular 360 degree views of the New York skyline, guests were first treated to a sumptuous array of appetizers with signature cocktails and a premium bar that included CIROC and Ketel One vodka along with Appleton Reserve rum. After cocktails the guests were taken downstairs where they enjoyed an intimate dinner from over 10 different dishes. After being welcomed by OCEAN Style Editor in Chief, Douglas Gordon, each Chef proceeded to talk about the dishes they had prepared and their property or restaurant.

A number of movers and shakers and notable personalities were in attendance including stylists Freddie Leiba and Phillip Bloch, Third World’s Cat Coore, designer Anya Ayoung-Chee, finance executive Alsion Roach, actor Leon Robinson and NY based PR powerhouse Marvet Britto.

Gordon stated: “It was our first venture with a food event here in New York and we are very pleased with the feedback. The food was terrific and the space was spectacular. We are driven to showcase the best of the Caribbean so from that perspective I am delighted with the end result. It took a tremendous effort on the part of our team but full marks to them for what was achieved. The concept has met with great interest and we look forward to developing the RESERVED series in the months to come.”

The evening also featured a Silent Auction with proceeds benefitting Anya Ayoung-Chee’s TallMan Foundation. Anya is the winner of Project Runway Season 9. The auction items include a 4 day/3 night stay at Sandals Resort in Exuma, limited edition autographed prints from Marc Baptiste, Johnny Vincent and Walter Chin along with Broadway tickets and Zumba Class passes, and garments from Catherine Malandrino, Calvin Klein and Anya’s own collection. The auction will continue online until August 10 and there is an open invitation to visit www.32auctions.com/tallmanfoundation to place bids to support the TallMan Foundation.
