15th August 2012 - Trinidad and Tobago celebrates our Olympic athletes but we also feel at this time the sadness of our fellow citizens in the West of Trinidad and Tobago. While we want to revel in the glory that is ours with a gold medal winner, three bronzes and 10 finals we must also empathise with those who have lost their loved ones and whose homes have been muddied and destroyed by the unfortunate floods that took place last weekend.

In our attempt to express both our pride and sympathy the Ministry of Sport will begin its rally motorcade for our Olympic heroes in Diego Martin distributing hampers to those who have suffered. Golden boy Keshorn Walcott will join in this effort along with a small contingent of athletes as Trinidad rallies to the aid of not only the blessed but also those affected by Saturday’s natural disaster.

The motorcade schedule is as follows:

Day 1 – Thursday 16 Aug
o Diego Martin Regional Corporation
 - The rally will begin from 11am at Wrightson Road, Port of Spain opposite Crowne Plaza Hotel to end with a distribution of hampers to flood victims firstly at the Diego Martin Swimming Pool followed by the Carenage Recreation Grounds.
