Trinidad and Tobago’s lone Olympic medallist in swimming, George Bovell has continued his good run of form with two silver medals in the 100IM and 50m Freestyle respectively. Bovell is competing at the Swimming World Cup currently being held in Dubai. The World Cup is a series of high level races hosted in various cities by swimming’s governing body, FINA.

A finalist in the 2012 Olympic 50m final, Bovell swam his personal best in Dubai (21.23) and was elated about the race, tweeting shortly after ‘Silver again tonight in the 50m free. Career best time though!!!’. Bovell also graciously congratulated the winner of the race, USA’s Anthony Ervin.

The Honourable Anil Roberts, Minister of Sport and Bovell’s coach said he was pleased about the performances against high level competition. ‘George is one of the hardest working athletes I know. He would have been disappointed by not medalling in London but he is not done swimming yet. He can still swim fast times and reaching a personal best in the 50m proves he is committed to doing better at his sport, every time he enters the pool. No-one should ever doubt his will to win.”

George Bovell leaves Dubai on Thursday, heading to the next meet of the World Cup in Doha, UAE from 6-7 October 2012.
