The Sports Company of Trinidad & Tobago (SPORTT) recently fulfilled a commitment to remunerate volleyball coaches of national junior and youth teams as well as community and school programmes. The presentation was held at the offices of SPORTT. Mr Anthony Creed, Executive Manager, Sport Performance and Development Unit handed over a cheques totalling $261,093.75 to the coaches themselves as well as representatives of the T&T Volleyball Federation. The salaries are for the period October 2010 to August 2012.

In 2012, the Junior (U17) teams enjoyed success in the Caribbean, with the Girls copping the regional title while the Boys took third place in the respective competition. At the NORCECA level, the results were not as favourable. The U20 Women placed 8th overall at the Junior Women’s tournament and the U18 Women placed 6th at the Continental Championships. Community based and school volleyball remains a vibrant activity for young people throughout the year with initiatives led by the TT Volleyball Federation.
