One of the coldest mornings of the winter, we headed down to the Industry City Loft for the most chic and anticipated New Years Day party each and every year! I personally always look forward to Sugarcane’s Sparkle – who wouldn’t want to celebrate the New Year and life with a bunch of our city’s sexiest, best dressed, mature, classy and tasteful party-goers.

We pulled up to the venue only to find a massive crowd of people waiting outside of this ticket only event. We decided that it would be best to tackle finding a parking space, which we thought would be an outrageous ordeal . . . but it turned out to be an easy task. There was ample parking and a wide span of parking just a block away. It was rather convenient. We were more concerned about what the wait on the line would be like, but security was very courteous and allowed us to enter without the long wait (sorry party-goers). Although, it did seem like the line began to flow and people began to make it inside quicker than expected.

On the inside, there was yet another line for coat check which wrapped around a wall. Unfortunately, we had to wait this one out. While on line, I witnessed a mob of people chilling out against another wall .... only to figure that these people came fully dressed up, waited outside in the cold and not have a ticket for the fete! What kind of madness!?!  ... Tickets to Sparkle were truly a hot commodity.

Once inside, my eyes instantly became fixated on the chic decor. The white and crystal themed decor created an upscale ambiance and definitely added warmth the large open space. The blue lighting also gave a nice winter wonderland effect. It was surely worth the wait in the cold. The VIP section was decked out in white couches. Crystal chandeliers and drapery hung from the ceilings throughout the venue. The DJ booth was stationed in the center of the open floor, still allowing a lot of walking space. The chit bar was against one wall and the food was setup on the opposite side of the room.

BREAKFAST BALL! Amen! Sugarcane catered a delicious variety of food for this breakfast/brunch fete. If you came early, food was all ready to be served. If you came late, there was a second serving time. This definitely eliminated a super mega long line. I cannot have imagined that amount of people dashing over for food all at once. We love that everything was well throughout and extremely planned out. There were pastelles, fry bake & saltfish, sahina, callaloo and tropical fruit salad just to name a few of the delicious dishes.

The Party Rocker Back-2-Basics had the entire party going ape-$#!* with the insane mixture of music that he played. He went straight for 2-hours playing a ton of 80s classics and a variety of genres from R&B, Rock, Soca, Reggae, Calypso and Pop! We loved it! DJ Annonymous and Dr. Wax were amongst the vibesetters that played for the night, and they did a fantastic job at keeping everyone grooving away the morning.

We surely MUST thank Charmaine, Pheobe, Spanish and the staff at Sugarcane for doing a phenomenal job with maintaining the Sugarcane name, image, flavour and keeping the supporters happy! Trini Jungle Juice will always support Sugarcane restaurant! We absolutely love the experience, the food and the vibe!
