Three Grammy Award winners will grace the stage of the annual Tobago Jazz Experience, scheduled to take place from April 20-28, 2013.

The announcement was made by the Division of Tourism and Transportation, of the Tobago House of Assembly, at the official launch held on January 15 at Jaffa Restaurant, Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain.

In honour of the event’s fifth anniversary, four-time Grammy Award winner, India.Arie and five-time Grammy Award winner, Dionne Warwick, will perform at the Beach Jazz Fiesta on April 28.  Warwick’s appearance will be a part of her anniversary tour as she celebrates 50 years in the music industry. 

Two-time Grammy winner, Melanie Fiona, will headline at World Music Night on April 26.  Also performing on that night is Lianne La Havas, the London-based songstress whose album, Is Your Love Big Enough, was named iTunes’ 2012 UK Album of the Year.

A community-centered initiative, the Tobago Jazz Experience is coordinated by the Division, in collaboration with the village councils of the host communities and several corporate sponsors.  The event is designed to showcase the many assets of Destination Tobago by offering experiences that are unique to the island. 

The nine-day event will include concerts in Speyside, Signal Hill, Scarborough, Castara, and the world renowned Pigeon Point Heritage Park.  Other items included in this year’s TJE series are the Edu-Jazz workshops on April 22 and 23 and Pan Trinbago’s Pazzazz on April 27.

Patrons attending this year’s Tobago Jazz Experience are promised a dynamic cast of local, regional and international acts, as well as a wide variety of mouthwatering cuisine and exciting fringe activities that will combine to create an all-encompassing festival that truly is “much more than music”.
