5 Minutes With Rupee

Hey y'all! TJJ caught up with Rupee at the fabulous Antilia Carnival event in money makin' Manhattan! Let me tell you, this was no easy task. After he was through making all of the gyal dem in the crowd break a sweat, I followed a swarm of women who trailed behind him and got into VIP where we pulled up some chairs and chatted with the calm, collected Bajan!

Rae: Whoo, ok! You always appear to be so calm, cool and collected. How do you maintain a level head in this industry?
Rupee: My strong faith in the Almighty, life and the loss of my parents to AIDS keeps me grounded.

Rae: Your song, "Feet Don't Fail Me" was HUGE in Bim for Cropover. How did you come up with the song?
Rupee: From traveling and being at parties, there is one common theme…you need your feet to keep going!
Rae: True!

Rae: What is something your fans don't know about you?
Rupee: I play A LOT of video games... Call of Duty 4, Fifa 09.

Rae: Out of all the places you've traveled for shows, where is one place besides Barbados that feels like home?
Rupee: Trinidad is like my second home and I love Japan.

Rae: What is the one thing you cannot travel without when on tour?
Rupee: My Apple Macbook Pro!

Rae: If you could be an animal, what would you be and why?
Rupee: Wow ... A bird ... I would be a Perequin Falcon. It is a bird of prey and also the fastest!

Rae: Sooo, when I was a teeny bopper, I remember you singing Ice Cream and my BFF and I thought you were sooooo dreamy.
Rupee: (laughing) Fuh real?
Rae: Oh, yeah! How do you handle the female fans?
Rupee: I respect the support from the women.

Rae: Who are you jamming to right now?
Rupee: T.I. Rihanna and Coldplay.

Rae: Out of all your songs, which is your favorite to perform?
Rupee: Definitely Jump.
Rae: Love that song!

Rae: Ok, last question, describe yourself in one word.
Rupee: Imperfect.
Rae: Really?
Rupee: Imperfect, because everyone is imperfect but we strive for perfection.
