Gospel artiste Iziah would be at the Trinidad Hilton and Conference Centre on Saturday 23rd March to commemorate Earth Hour 2013 along with the members of Earth Strong. Earth Strong is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2009 and has been promoting the lifestyle of sustainable living through education and positive environmental action. This is the second year that Earth Strong would be at the Trinidad Hilton to commemorate this global event. Earth Strong would be showcasing various performing acts during the observable hour. (8:30pm-9:30pm)

“Earth Hour is celebrated around the world with over 128 countries participating in this event. I think it’s absolutely amazing that people can come together and reflect upon the environmental welfare of the earth,” said Iziah. Earth Hour is a global initiative organised by the World Wildlife Fund. It began in Sydney, Australia where 2 million people switched off their non-essential lights in 2010.  The event reduces electricity consumption and therefore cuts down the amount of carbon dioxide that is generated from a city within the observed hour. In Thailand, the city of Bangkok was able to reduce their carbon dioxide output by 41.6 tonnes, which is equivalent to 73.34 megawatts of electrical power. While the event is not as popular in Trinidad and Tobago, Earth Strong through its collaboration with the Trinidad Hilton, turns off the lights at the hotel in order to raise national awareness of this global cause.

Iziah did not hesitate to cooperate with Earth Strong, having been a member of the non-profit organization for just over a year. Iziah would also be accompanied by his band members Ronnie Beckles (Guitarist), Aaron Lowchewtung (Guitarist), Michael Howard (Bassist) and Nicholas Thomas (Drummer). Iziah who is the runner up of Digicel Stars 2012 and the best male vocalist of the Anchorage Pop Music Awards 2010 looks forward to entertaining the crowd at the Trinidad Hilton.

Earth strong promises a night of low energy entertainment, including a happy hour party after earth hour has passed. For more information on Earth Strong and their Earth Hour event please make sure to visit the group at www.earthstrongtt.org
