Caribbean’s Hopes Hinge on Trinidad and Tobago


ESPN Caribbean will present live coverage of all matches of the 2013 Karbonn CLT20 beginning tomorrow September 21 at 10:20 a.m. (ET).  All matches air on ESPN Caribbean and ESPN Play. Trinidad & Tobago have a fighting chance at lifting the CLT20 2013 trophy back to the Caribbean as they prepare to represent the region.

The fifth edition of the CLT20 runs September 17 – October 6, 2013 and features the world’s top club teams including clubs from the Indian Premier League (IPL) and others from domestic club teams in the Caribbean, Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Pakistan.

Both Otago Volts (New Zealand) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (India) qualified for the group stage. The qualifying round took place September 17-20, 2013.

Tomorrow’s group stage commences from Jaipur with an exciting Group A clash between IPL teams Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals.  The other teams in Group A include the Highveld Lions (South Africa) and Perth Scorchers (Australia).

Trinidad & Tobago, which represents the Caribbean by virtue of winning the 2013 Caribbean T20 in January, will play in Group B of the Group Stage beginning Sunday (22/9/13). Other Group B teams include Chennai Super Kings (India), Titans (South Africa) and Brisbane Heat (Australia).

The TT squad includes top players Denesh Ramdin, Rayad Emrit, Jason Mohammed, Nicholas Tooran, Sunil Narine, Evin Lewis, Samuel Badree, Navin Stewart, Shannon Gabbriel, Yannick Ottley, Adrian Barath, Sherwin Ganga, Lendl Simmons, Ravi Rampaul and Darren Bravo.

Caribbean cricket fans can also look forward to seeing some of their other favourites playing for their IPL teams including Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings), Kevin Cooper (Rajasthan Royals), Kerron Pollard (Mumbai Indians) and Darren Sammy (Sunrisers Hyderbad).

The competition also expects to see the participation of several other superstars including Sashin Tendulkar (Mumbai Indians) and MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings).

The semifinals take place on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5.  The winners will play in the final on October 6, 2013.
