LONDON, 29TH October, 2013 - Music-tech Company Band App has teamed up with calypso label One Island Entertainment, to expand their reach into the Caribbean music market. Through talks with One Island founder Konata Alleyne, Band App now has calypso as a genre.

For the first time, this will allow calypso artistes to select Calypso as their main genre instead of  World or Reggae. This new opportunity will help to boost the reach of the genre and the artiste.

“It's all about access. Most if not all mainstream media websites and applications don’t have calypso listed as a genre, which means that calypso and its sub genres (soca, chutney, rapso) are left to reside in the World, Reggae and even RnB genre. This project represents a small my significant step forward in our industry”. Konata Alleyne (Founder, CEO and lead artiste of One Island Entertainment).

This is great news for music fans as they will now be able to refine their search results for their favourite artistes and connect directly with the latest music and updates.

Band App Founder/CEO Adam Perry stated that "BandApp is excited to be partnering with One Island, and we are looking forward to bringing Calypso and sunshine to our BandApp users. BandApp is a great way to discover new music and a simple, free solution that allows artists, DJs etc to build and share a free mobile app, instantly. We look forward to welcoming Calypso artists from all over the world and discovering some great new music.”

Konata has become the first calypso artiste to join the Band App family. Download Konata’s app to your smartphone using the following link http://www.bandapp.com/konata. Available on iPhone and Android.
