NYC: Earlier this year, veteran reggae singer Marcia Griffiths and friends delivered a scintillating performance on opening night of the 2014 Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival to kick off her year-long golden anniversary celebration. Following her performance, the Groovin Inc. New York office was flooded with calls from fans of the singer requesting the promoters consider her for their 2014 Groovin In The Park festival.

After weeks of negotiations, a deal was reached for the Reggae Queen to join Chronixxx and other soon to be announced acts at the festival on Sunday, June 29, 2014 in Queens, NY.

"We are truly honored to have a reggae legend of the stature of Marcia Griffiths perform at Groovin in the Park 2014" Christopher Roberts, CEO of Groovin Inc, said. "This is her 50th anniversary in the music industry and she will be going all out to entertain fans and sweep them away with musical treasures."

Her upcoming performance billed "Marcia Griffiths and Friends" in NYC will feature original I-Threes member Judy Mowatt, veteran singer John Holt and a reunion with her long time singing partner Bob Andy. All are recipients of the Order of Distinction from the government of Jamaica.

Griffiths gained international recognition with Bob Andy in 1970 with their cover of Nina Simone’s “Young, Gifted and Black”, which sold 1/2 million copies in the UK and Europe. She later toured the world with Bob Marley and the Wailers as a member of the I-Threes before hitting the Billboard chart as a solo act with her monster hit 'Electric Boogie.' The song which inspired the 'Electric Slide' dance, peaked at # 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, making it her most successful single ever. Other hits from the Queen includes "Feel Like Jumping," "Melody Life" and "Truly."
