From what started out as a simple birthday celebration to now a full blown-out J’ouvert styled party, Jordanna Hadeed’s Josie’s Jamishness has become an international must go to event with crews from Jamaica, Barbados and even Martinique flying to Trinidad just to be part of the revelry.
Jamishness was once again held during the early hours of the morning along Macqueripe Road. Chaguaramas, Trinidad but this year there were a few surprises. This well organised street fete featured not only multiple music and premium drink trucks but had a fully equipped paint truck outfitted with super-soaker guns and stock piles of abir for the dedicated Jamishness worshipers who were ready to be baptised with paint at the crack of dawn!
The untamed vibe began on time at 3 o’clock in the morning with the sound of the first big truck horn blast which instantly caused euphoria to resonate through the crowd. Yes, the jamming had begun!
The DJ’s reverberation of sweet Soca orchestrated all to reminisce on this year’s Trinidad Carnival while jamming up and down the parade route. This continued non-stop until the sun had taken its position in the 6 o’clock sky by which time we had arrived at the adult playground featuring over a dozen inflatable water slides, multiple service food bars and a concierge booth which gave away hundreds of Jamishness branded UV tested shades for those who prepared to stay for the long haul! Then it was Junior Sammy’s turn, with his water trucks, to stand at the podium to lead the Jamishness ensemble while conducting all through this aqua-masterpiece.
In the end the sixth edition of Josie’s Jamishness, which only ended at 11 o’clock in the morning, has evolved into the premier All Inclusive Paint Party in which you MUST leave your social behaviour at the door because it’s pure JAMISHNESS!!!
