St. Vincent Recording Artist, Songwriter Kevin Lyttle To Serve As Caribbean Heritage Month Ambassador for Caribbean American Heritage Foundation  Inc.

Miami, FL (June 5, 2014) - South Florida has been enriched by Caribbean-American contributions in business, education, politics and the arts. Caribbean American Heritage Foundation Inc. (CAHFI) has curated an impressive platform of Caribbean-inspired activities and partnerships to celebrate Caribbean -American Heritage Month. There are over 465,000 Caribbean-Americans in the South Florida community, primarily from the islands of Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Bahamas and Haiti. (Source: 2003 Census). The month of June has been proclaimed by President Obama as Caribbean Heritage Month. CAHFI teams up with the Pérez Art Museum (PAMM) and The Rhythm Foundation for the opening of the  Caribbean: Crossroads of the World exhibition on Thursday, June 5th.  The event is hosted by Neki Mohan of Channel 10 News.  Attendees will be able to dance under the stars to a live performance by Lauderhill Steel Ensemble, who will present a preview of their upcoming Colors of the Caribbean Festival (June 14) performance. Ambassador Kevin Lyttle will also be in attendance.

CAHFI’s signature event Colors of the Caribbean (http://www.colorsofthecaribbean.com/) will take place for the third year at Arts Park at Young Circle in downtown Hollywood on Saturday June 14th, 4pm-11pm. Live performances by MIDNITE (US Virgin Islands), Wayne Wonder (Jamaica), Harmonik (Haiti), Lauderhill Steel Ensemble (Trinidad) and more. Attendees will enjoy sweet steelpan music and soak in the sounds of Bahamian Junkanoo while enjoying the best in Caribbean cuisine and drink. The event will also feature an activity zone presented by the YMCA powered by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County.  The event has become a staple for South Florida and truly caters to the entire family.

Wednesday, June 11, 2014 – At The Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach, The Under 40 Group will launch the Broward leg of its already successful Miami Under 40 monthly social networker.
