Atlanta, GA:- Internet sales from Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Canada, Sweden, the Netherlands and other countries validate the new RepJA (pronounced Rep-J-A) fashion phenomenon.

Messages like Tek Weh Yuself, Gully Creepa, We Run Tingz – Tingz Nuh Run We, and Nuh Linga, coined by celebrity performers, are resonating worldwide with a young set, who have an appreciation for the Jamaican street and the dancehall culture.  RepJA, a clothing line, is capturing these signature phrases and iconic sayings, via the T-shirt, which is being adopted and worn by fans all over the world. The products are further propelled by the endorsement of influential dancehall artists and groups, such as Ravers Clavers, Elephant man, Ricky Blaze, Charly Black, Sadiki, Voicemail, Gyptian, Bounty Killa, Tony Matterhorn, Black Blingaz, Latonya Style, Cecile, Beenie Man, Lady Saw, Mr. Vegas, OverMars, Ding Dong, Twin of Twins, Mr. Lexx and many more.

Started in 2006, RepJA is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and is the brainchild of Omar Thomas, a native of Jamaica and now a naturalized citizen of the United States.  Thomas and his friends, most of them in the art field, came up with the idea for the t-shirts in one of their regular art brainstorming sessions.  Eventually, the concept turned to a full-blown vision for apparel to characterize their heritage.

“We have too much style and charisma as a people to be put in red, gold and green only.  We are breaking out of the traditional and the expected.  We are going to catch people off guard,” says Thomas.

RepJa designs deliver the most popular Jamaican slang of the day in a style that is retro punk with the colorful flair of the Caribbean island.  The team, including Omar Thomas, president and CEO; Andre Allen, vice president of customer relations; Prince Graham, lead graphics designer and Colin Thomas, illustrator plan to expand the line to offer jeans and cut and sew products. They have already partnered with a couture designer, with a similar vision to defy the typical Jamaican style, and have produced numerous runway shows to display the new face of the culture they call RepJA.

Since the brand was introduced, monthly web orders have steadily grown by more than 35%.  Popularity also has demanded more of the t-shirts in more stores.  What began as a few sales in store, 4Season (Stone Mountain, GA), has grown to be distributed in Vinnie Styles (Brooklyn, NY); Reggae Wear (Miami, FL); Yard No Place Better (Miami, FL); Leigui (JAPAN); FreeStyle Street Wear (ITALY); and Reggae Unplugged (Maryland/DC). The group envisions even greater prospects for the future.

“As we travel to more expos, festivals and fashion shows we anticipate increased requests by adoring followers for our product on the shelves,” says Andre Allen, vice president of customer relations.
