On Saturday 26th July, the 'Alias Entertainment Expo' (AEX/2014) will have its inaugural event at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya with several activities happening all day long from 9 AM to Midnight. AEX/2014 will be the largest cosplay-related convention held in the Caribbean to date.

Cosplay is the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, especially one from the Japanese genres of manga or anime.

The expo will feature the first ever Caribbean Cosplay Championship. Over thirty cosplayers from all across the region will be visiting to compete for cash prizes.

The launch of the Championship will take place the day before (Friday 25th July) in the form of a street parade of cosplay characters starting at 12 noon from NAPA, Port of Spain, down Frederick Street to the Central Bank Auditorium. All members of the public are invited to come out to view the parade and support.

At the end of the parade, Larry Hama, writer and editor for Marvel comics, and one of the international guests attending AEX/2014, will give a feature talk at the Central Bank Auditorium, hosted by the US Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago.

In addition to the US Embassy, AEX has received support from its “Spartan Sponsors” the Ministry of Tourism, The US Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago, the Mas Transformation Secretariat, the National Carnival Development Foundation and from its "Ninja Sponsors", The National Lotteries Control Board and Transport Solutions Limited.

On the main expo day (Saturday 26th July), the Centre of Excellence will be sectioned into four themed territories; The Comic Village, The Anime Oasis, The Cave of Games and The Cosplay Coliseum.

Each territory will be different from the next, sporting fanciful décor and unique exhibitions.

The 'Comic Village', will include booth exhibitors promoting everything from DC and Marvel related merchandise, posters and figures, Table Top Wargames, Collectible Comics, Cosplay and gyaru wigs and fashion accessories and Card Gaming such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon, Game of Thrones, Magic The Gathering and a new Trinbago based role playing card game called 'Mafia Night'. 

The 'Anime Oasis' will comprise exhibitors showcasing Anime DVDs, Manga (Japanese comics) Vintage action figures. 

The 'Cave of Games' will feature all things gaming including interactive video game tournaments on  FIFA 14, Dance Central 3, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit and Ultra Street Fighter IV; the sale of video games, consoles and mobile game applications.

The main area will be the Cosplay Colosseum where the Caribbean Cosplay Championships will take place. Special photography for all participants will also be provided by Gareth Leigh Photography.
