On Saturday 30th August, 2014, musical performer Jessie McBarrow, better known as “Jwave” will take to the stage at the Central Bank Auditorium, Port of Spain for his concert performance entitled “If We Love”. He will be accompanied by several guest artistes including Marge Blackman, Iziah Kanhai and Two Cents Movement. The purpose of the concert is to express a sense of love and appreciation for the people of Trinidad and Tobago as we celebrate our 52nd year of Independence.
McBarrow has been a student of the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) for the past two years pursuing an Artiste Diploma in Musical Performance. This is his second concert following his debut recital that was held at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in May of last year. He intends to lead his musical career with positivity and hopes that he can make a difference through his music.
Jwave’s music is built on spirituality, with musical influences of jazz, pop and reggae. He is well known for the dynamic way in which he plays the keyboard and sings his original compositions. In 2011 he was able to win the title of ‘Best Keyboardist’ at the ‘Anchorage Pop Music Awards’. His mission is to change the world, with one song at a time.
As Trinidad and Tobago celebrates its independence, McBarrow believes that his show will showcase the necessary traits required to build a successful nation. “Love has a different meaning for everyone. It is hard to understand, but we all feel it and express it so many different ways. I intend to showcase this emotion the best way I know how,” stated McBarrow
