Roger "Patch" Joseph and Shawn "Da Ma$tamind" Noel, have made it to the Semi-Final round of Trinidad and Tobago's Chutney Soca Monarch 2009 with their smash hit "Rum and Roti".

This culture crossing song truly reflects the deep abiding love Trinis have cultivated and shared throughout the world for what is internationally known as our favorite national dish. If you are a fan of Soca and Chutney music and believe that when the two are blended together you get a sweet unique sound that is a true reflection of us (Trinbagonians) as a people. Roger "Patch" Joseph,  is a well known writer and performer. His interest in music started as a writer; writing for such artistes as, Oscar B, Leon Coldero, Kurt Allen, Ian McKenzie, and Derek Seals. In 1999 Roger wrote the song Commes in the Place which started his career as a performing artist. Commes was a very popular song which secured him a position in the International Soca Monarch Finals that year.

Shawn "Da Mastamind" Noel is a composer/producer/musician and now performer. He has composed several award-winning soca tracks, including songs that won the International Soca Monarch in 2004 and 2005, the Groovy Soca Monarch in 2006 and the Soca Monarch in Guyana in 2008. He has worked with a wide array of artistes both foreign and local such as Rikki Jai, Shurwayne Winchester, Bunji Garlin,  and Collie Buddz, He is a professional musician and has won several industry awards for his work as a composer.

Following the very popular song De Tail Gone from Carnival 2008 a track performed by Da Mastamind and Patch, the success of "Rum and Roti" comes as no surprise. "Rum and Roti" symbolizing 10 trail-blazing years for Roger "Patch" Joseph as a performer in the soca industry while simultaneously it marks the first year for Shawn "Da Ma$tamind" Noel as a frontline singer.
